Birch/Mahogany is quickly becoming one of my favorite tonewood combinations for snare drums, mainly due to the yin and yang tonal qualities exhibited. Birch offers lots of bright attack and projection, while mahogany delivers a much warmer, darker, and more mellow sound. The combination of these two woods results in a snare drum that responds extremely well across a wide tuning range. Tuned low, this drum has plenty of body and beef without sounding muddy. Tuned high, it cracks like a whip without choking out. These characteristics are boosted by the 7x14 measurements of this drum.

Constructed with Pork Pie's progressive ply design, this snare features an 8-ply, mahogany veneer on the interior and exterior with a birch ply core. The hardware includes hourglass lugs, exclusive to Pork Pie, and 2.3mm heavy-duty hoops that can take the best you can dish out.
