What We Think

If you've never heard what 3mm solid brass sounds like in a 7x12 snare drum, you'll want to let your ears hear this one. For such a small snare, this one packs loads of body and projection thanks to its thick shell. Its super-shallow snare beds lend to this drums snap and sensitivity. This drum sounds amazing in the context of a side snare - in fact, the consignor of this drum used it for just that purpose while on tour with Don Henley - but you can easily make this your main backbeat machine if you're going for that 90's No Doubt/311 kind of vibe. This Pork Pie Snare was produced sometime in the mid-late 90's just as Pork Pie was starting to become a household name. It does show some signs its age with minor pitting of the hardware and a bit of the chrome flaking in one location. The snare strainer feels amazingly smooth, and the bearing edges are in perfect condition. Get your hands on this rare beauty before it goes away forever!

About Manufacturer

In 1987, Bill Detamore started making drums as a hobby. He sold one, made two more, and so on. This evolved into some of the finest handmade drums available today. To take snare drums one step further, he introduced solid (one piece), exotic wood stave and plate brass designs. Pork Pie has also introduced their Little Squealer and Hip Pig series of drums to round out the line.

Over the years, Pork Pie has become the place where a drummer can hot rod an existing kit with new bearing edges, refinishing, or design the kit of their dreams. Bill's signature is on the inside of every Pork Pie USA drum. This is his guarantee of quality. Pork Pie's goal is your total satisfaction.
