It utilizes a thin shell design without reinforicing rings which helps accentuate the natural richness of the tonewood while providing a wide tuning range. Rosewood is a hard, dense wood and projects a powerful full-bodied sound. Rosewood’s natural beauty contrasts its naturally aggressive sound. The reddish/brown wood grain features a complex grain pattern that is highlighted by the clear high-gloss finish. The bearing edges are as smooth as they can possibly be and are given with a 45-degree cut with a small sharp counter-cut to focus the drum and raise the level of sensitivity. This thin Rosewood shell snare sounds great as a ballad snare tuned down, but equally, the sharp bearing edge and solid construction means there’s no fear in cranking it right up. In the higher tuning registry, the Pork Pie excels with sensitivity and snap.
