Pork Pie has been one of the elite American custom drum builders for over three decades. From vintage styles to exotic veneers, they continue to expand their finishes while staying true to their sound.
Pork Pie is one of the few companies that use a proportion shell configuration. The toms have thin 6 ply maple shells without reinforcing rings and sing with a long and smooth decay. The floor toms have a 7 ply maple shell, and the bass drum has an 8 ply shell, with all plies less than 1/4" thick, providing a tremendous amount of sustain. The Macassar Ebony horizontal veneer is finished in an oil finish which accentuates the dark rich grain patterns, while also allowing the drums to resonate at their maximum potential.
This used set is in great condition with plenty of room to expand.
Whether you choose to play single ply or two ply heads, this set exudes tone that will excel in a variety of musical styles and environments that will inspire you to play.
Offering bearing edges that are hand-sanded and precision cut, the tonal quality of the shell give you the attack of the hard rosewood with the warmth of maple. The hardware includes compact lugs, exclusive to Pork Pie, and 2.3mm heavy-duty hoops that can take the best you can dish out. The mounted toms come outfitted with a Pork Rings™ mounting system and all drums are finished with Remo USA heads so you're able to enjoy the fine tones produced by these drums straight out of the box.
In 1987, Bill Detamore started making drums as a hobby. He sold one, made two more, and so on. This evolved into some of the finest handmade drums available today. To take snare drums one step further, he introduced solid (one piece), exotic wood stave and plate brass designs. Pork Pie has also introduced their Little Squealer and Hip Pig series of drums to round out the line.
Over the years, Pork Pie has become the place where a drummer can hot rod an existing kit with new bearing edges, refinishing, or design the kit of their dreams. Bill's signature is on the inside of every Pork Pie USA drum. This is his guarantee of quality. Pork Pie's goal is your total satisfaction.
