I build guitars that are elegant and easy to play with a balanced yet explosively responsive sound. My aesthetic reflects the simple attention to detail of the viol family with no excess ornamentation. All my innovations stem from my desire to improve sound, playability and ease of repair.
Unique Innovations
Full-length side reinforcement
Spruce side reinforcement runs continuous from top to back. Eliminates common cracking problems (especially right next to lining) of guitar sides while adding little weight. "Reverse" kerfing plus additional continuous lining adds tremendous stiffness to sides without much weight.
Violin Edge
"Violin Edge" allows easy disassembly for simplified repairs to top and back. Neck-sets (an inevitable event in a steel-string guitars life) take about an hour as opposed to 5 to 6 hours for a standard dovetail neck joint.
This detail doesn't mean much until you've taken the guitar in for a neckset (usually after 20-30 yrs), or major crack/structural repair and pay less than a quarter of the standard fee!
Asymmetrical Bracing
Here is the nylon-string (flamenco and classical) version of the asymmetrical lattice. Same performance attributes. The difference is in the lack of bridge plate and the reduced rigidity of the lattice to allow the nylon strings to "drive" the top. I think the guitar has its closest analog in a speaker cabinet. For the speaker; substitute the active area of the top. For the cabinet; substitute the sides and back. The soundhole and soundport serve to tune the resonant frequency of the box, just like a ported speaker cabinet.
