The Metro Drum Company Ironbark ply shell snare drum is the perfect blend of aesthetic and tone in one brilliant package. This drum has a great balance of attack and body.
Through our extensive testing, we found that great sounds that can be achieved whether it is tuned high or low. The shell is beautifully finished inside and out with 45º bearing edges which deliver a clean and precise note. They chose to configure this shell with 16plies of Ironbark without reinforcing rings which have a shell thickness of about 3/8" thick. This snare drum has ten heavy double-ended tube lugs. They are heavier than traditional tube lugs but add a nice and subtle compression to the shell that minimizes some overtones.
Complemented with a Tamo Ash veneer with a natural satin finish, this snare is a joy to see and play.

As one of a very distinctive group of Australian eucalypts, the ironbarks can be easily recognized by its hard, deeply furrowed, rough bark ranging from a dark grey to black hue. The Ironbark veneer exudes a deep dark red to red-brown hue and a sonic richness to match.
