Sound Pure's Take

For decades now, Metro Drum Company has been creating some of the finest handcrafted drums from Australia and we are super excited to have these drums.

Block drums have been a favorite go-to drum for many studio and touring professionals. Thicker shells and harder tone woods can create some great sonic results for both studio and live players. Tasmanian Blackwood is a beautiful timber from Australia that comes from the Koa family and yields a rich midrange focus. This particular shell is close to 3/4" thick with integrated reinforcing rings and delivers a solid note with a fantastic focus. Blessed with 45 degree bearing edges and shallow snare beds, players will love the dynamic sensitivity from the center to the edge. The ten beavertail lugs bring a nice even stretch on the drum, so whether you like high or low tunings this drum is built to perform.

This is just one of the many options that Metro Drum Company has available. Whether you prefer modern builds or vintage sounds, give us a call and get on the road to sonic and visual bliss.

From Metro Drums

The Metro block shell snare is both dynamic and articulate. These drums have the characteristic volume and projection of the best steel shells, but with a warmth and depth that no metal shell can capture. An expressive instrument with an open, lively sound, these block shell snare drums respond instantly to even the most subtle stickings.
