One our favorite things at Sound Pure is discovering new manufacturers and great gear. We have the privilege of working with some of the finest and most unique instruments available today. This Metro 7x14 Crabapple ply snare drum definitely meets all categories.
Master builder Paul Warry and founder of Metro Drum Company has been creating some of Australia's finest handcrafted drums and disclosed to us that Crabapple was used for the interior of the Sydney Opera house but is unfortunately no longer commercially available. This 8 lug beauty fuses big sound without any loss of precision and articulation. Backbeats and ghosting are equally voiced from the 45-degree bearing edges and shallow snare beds. Press rolls are sensitive and wide open from the center to the edges making this diverse drum really fun to play.
No detail was spared as you will find premium gaskets underneath the lugs to protect the shell, ABS washers on the tension rods to protect your hoops, a Dunnett multi-step throw-off for easy snare sensitivity settings, and a glass-like gloss finish to complete the package. The Metro Crabapple ply snare drum is visually and sonically appealing while showing an understated level of care and attention to detail.
