CharterOak m900t Tube Microphone on Electric Guitar
The Charter Oak m900t is a vintage-style small-diaphragm tube pencil microphone that has a warm, thick midrange, and very tame and subdued top end. However, as a small diaphragm mic, this Charter Oak microphone is an excellent choice where you want to retain detail in a non-harsh way. Even when put through our clean preamp, the Millennia HV3, there was no real harshness that you'd typically expect from a small diaphragm mic. It possesses a warm vintage tonailty, but doesn't lack on detail, which makes it an interesting and great choice here for electric guitars. It is particularly impressive in the way that it can capture clean tones, and loads of reverb detail, but at the same time, doesn't suffer when the amp gets dialed up to some more aggressive distorted electric guitar tones. It's a real workhorse, as it performs wonderfully well on lots of applications from finger-style acoustic guitar, to drum overheads, grand piano, and even here on electric guitars.
