The Stephen Marchione "Vintage Trem " Model is Stephen's take on our favorite "S" Style/Double-cut Solidbody built with an artist's perspective and a musician's heart and ear. Marchione builds not only solidbodys but archtops, classicals, flamencos, and semi-hollowbodys all of incredible quality and with old-world artisan attention to detail. Building electrics has shown Marchione how much impact the fretboard can have on a guitar player's love for an instrument.

Stephen is also one of a few builders that draws from both classical and jazz construction when building all of his instruments. His client list includes: Paul Simon, Leni Stern, Mark Whitfield, Mark Knopfler, Vernon Reid,and John Abecrombie just to name a few. Stephen has studied since 1994 with Guy Rabut, a violin maker based in Manhattan and says he tries to build one violin a year which helps his awareness of such specs as top thickness and tap tuning and how these affect the overall voice any stringed instrument.

Having a background in these acoustic guitar styles is certainly a major plus when it comes to building electrics. We all know that if your solidbody doesn't sound good acoustically, it won't matter what you plug it into....

This Vintage Trem certainly proves that point. This instrument rings with a magnificent acoustic quality even without being plugged in. I've heard acoustic guitars that were not as alive and present as this guitar.

Certainly the Swamp Ash body coupled with the Sugar Maple Neck and Ebony fingerboard all add a distinctive liveliness to the instrument but there is more to it than that. The string to string definition and articulation are amazing. The result is great clarity with a robust attack and no muddiness at all. The notes jump off the fingerboard!

We wouldn't say this about any old instrument, but this guitar will make you a better player, no doubt!
