What We Think

Much like a lot of the Mapex Black Panther series, this snare drum is a workhorse drum for not a lot of money. Part of a limited edition of 50 drums, this drum features a maple shell with walnut reinforcing rings and die-cast hoops. The maple shell provides a nice clean note while the die-cast hoops and reinforcing add a little focus. Tuned high, this drum delivers a serious crack and tuned low, it delivers a smooth lush note. Depending on your favorite head combination, you can expect a variety of sonic possibilities wrapped up in a beautiful package.

The Mapex Special Edition Black Panther Snare Drum features a maple shell with an elm exterior ply. It is built with 4-ply 3.4mm walnut sound rings in the top and bottom of the shell for a rounder, darker tone.

The snare drum's natural gloss lacquer finish is accented with all black chrome hardware including die-cast hoops, lugs, and snare throw-off.
