For decades, Ludwig has been the king of snare drums. Their catalog continues to expand with wants and needs of the modern drummer including three different spun brass snare drums.

Much like its brother the Black Beauty, the Ludwig Hammered Brass snare drum starts with a spun brass shell that yields the sound of legends. The spun shell's sound is in a league of its own. The wider flanges at the top and bottom of the shell create a full-bodied tone that welded shells cannot replicate. Add to that the visually stunning hammered shell and ten low mass brass tube lugs, this drum is crisp and articulate in the medium and high tunings but spongy and full on the low end of the tuning.

While not as popular, the primary fundamental sounds are equally on par with the Black Beauty at a slightly lesser price. If you're in the market for a classic brass snare, don't overlook the Ludwig Hammered Brass snare drum.

Having a similar sonic quality to the Black Beauty but at a higher pitch, Ludwig's 5x14" and 6.5x14" Brass models are hammered using the same process as Ludwig Timpani to expand their playable range. Though each has a similar hammering pattern, no two are exactly alike and vary slightly in tonality. Choose from 5"x14" and 6.5"x14" models.
