With a subtle yet elegant patina copper finish and 6.5" depth, this is an extremely versatile snare drum. This copper snare features a slightly warmer voice than its aluminum cousins, especially in lower tuning ranges. Its fat, wet tone in this range still retains a pleasant degree of articulation. In the medium to higher tuning ranges, this drum produces a fast attack and quick decay with loads of projection. This snare is perfect for drummers who need to cut through walls of amplifiers without losing tone, but also for softer players that demand warm and complex tones.

With close to 100 years' experience building copper timpani, the newest member to the Ludwig USA snare drum range is the Copper Phonic snare drum. Featuring a dark raw copper finish that makes every one unique.
Built to the same professional standards as the Black Beauty, Supraphonic, and Bronze Phonic models, the new Copper Phonic is an exemplary addition to Ludwig's USA family and a legend in the making. Available in 5x14" (LC661), and 6.5 x14"(LC663) sizes. Both drums feature a dark raw copper finish, 1.2mm thick shell, Imperial lugs, and 2.3mm hoops.
