Introducing the Ludwig 110th Anniversary Legacy Mahogany Van Buren Snare Drum. This snare is a throwback to the legendary late-'40s Ludwig look and feel. Handcrafted from select mahogany and poplar, the Legacy shell has been the foundation of the Ludwig sound for decades. It’s hand-sanded with 30-degree bearing edges on the interior and a 1/4" roundover for a warmer and fuller note. Adding to the warmth, the Van Buren showcases a new vintage mahogany stain complete with inlaid maple hoops and a commemorative badge. In the tradition of Ludwig’s “Victorious” drums of the 1940s, the Ludwig 110th Anniversary Legacy Mahogany Van Buren snare drum showcases a new vintage mahogany stain complete with inlaid maple hoops. An augmented presentation of a classic African Mahogany natural finish that celebrates the likeness of Ludwig’s first ever drum badge and Chicago showroom. Powerful raw tone couples with a stylish presentation. This outfit is limited to 2019, 110th anniversary production.

Shell
The shell is constructed with a 1/16" mahogany outer ply, 1/8" poplar core ply, 1/16" mahogany inner ply and 1/4" solid maple reinforcement rings. The key to Legacy's classic tone begins with a cross-laminated American Poplar center ply to lend focus to the warm rich low-end "woody" tones of inner/outer Mahogany plies. This unique shell combination is further stabilized by a specially rounded bearing edge with 1" solid maple reinforcement rings.

Bearing Edge
The snare features a 30º inner cut with a 1/4" radius round over bearing edge. Producing a pure, well-rounded sonic footprint, Legacy Series revives the distinctive sound that set the standard for popular music throughout the 20th Century.
