Introducing the Classic Maple Vintage 110th Anniversary Snare Drum. This snare is a throwback to the legendary late-'20s Ludwig look and feel. Handcrafted from select North American hard maple, the Classic Maple shell has been the foundation of the Ludwig sound for decades. It’s hand-sanded with 45-degree bearing edges and precision snare beds have been the inspiration for recreational and professional players alike. For this unique piece, Ludwig utilized jumbo flake pearloid wrap and brass-plated single-flanged hoops to deliver a retro look to match its classic tone. Low-mass tube lugs and a commemorative 110th Anniversary badge give this snare standout character worthy as a collectible or as a daily beater. The short lifetime of Emerald Pearl led to very few drums ever being produced in that finish. Its limited nature prompts recognition by collectors as one of the "Holy-Grail" Ludwig products.

Like many old cellulose wraps, examples of Emerald Pearl today show signs of aging and yellow-out. We've come to admire the look of these vintage examples so much so that we made the attempt to recreate a more "vintage" version of the finish. In addition to our Pantone direction, this pearl wrap features a Jumbo Pearl Flake to fashion that of the original. Jumbo Pearl Flake gives more depth to the Pearl presentation compared to today's more modern Pearl Flake size. The vintage-classic theme is continued on these outfits by completing the outfits with brass plated hardware: lugs, tensions rods, and single-flanged hoops.
