Following a long history of great drums, Ludwig has released copper as a new shell into the family of esteemed drums. Built to the same standards as the Black Beauty or Supraphonic, the Ludwig Copper Phonic drum brings a new sound for the discerning player.
For nearly 100 hundred years, Ludwig has been crafting tympani drums with copper so these guys know a thing or two about the beautiful metal. The copper brings a dryness we love that is not found from the usual brass or aluminum offerings Ludwig have in their catalog. This dry metal, coupled with the wider flanges from the hand-spun shell, provide a full-bodied note with all of the sensitivity you have come to know and love from a Ludwig metal snare drum.
Visually striking, the Copper Phonics is available in a smooth shell, patina finish, or polished hammered shells with the option of Imperial or Tube lugs as well. Regardless of where your eye takes you, the Ludwig Copper Phonic brings the delicate balance of beauty and tone that is sure to please your ears.

Built to the same professional standards as the Black Beauty, Supraphonic, and Bronze Phonic models, the new Copper Phonic is an exemplary addition to Ludwig's USA family and a legend in the making. Available in 5x14" (LC661), and 6.5 x14"(LC663) sizes. Both drums feature a dark raw copper finish, 1.2mm thick shell, Imperial lugs, and 2.3mm hoops.
