Condition: Used, Excellent
Lightly built but powerful, this S-25 is exemplary of George Lowden's handiwork. This gorgeous guitar's appointments are warm and literally woody: Check the rosette and purfling composed of sycamore, walnut, mahogany and rosewood, set against the high-grade cedar top and rosewood back and sides. The instrument's sound complements the visual aesthetic while contradicting its compact size. Focused bottom end, bright mids and ringing treble indeed make this a fabulous fingerpicking guitar, but the cedar top also possesses enough headroom to allow for plentiful clarity and balance for strumming. The slim, wide neck combines modern comfort with vintage feel, and its super-short scale and flat fingerboard makes expressive bends dreamily easy.
SP Luthier Notes: Setup Confirmed
The 25 was often thought of as THE Lowden. Nowadays with many more new models it is not possible to say which would be THE Lowden, but the 25 has character in bags. It is rich, full-bodied, warm and powerful.
The Original Series was the very first Lowden range from 1976, just as the ‘O’ model is George’s original Lowden body design. Although the medium sized ‘F’ and concert sized ‘S’ have been added to the range since then, the Lowden standard of passionate commitment to no compromise was well and truly set.
