Coming from a finger-style background, I was very eager to get in this Lowden. I'll play finger-style in DADGAD on just about anything (dread, electric, archtop, etc.), but what would happen if I were to encounter an instrument specifically suited for that style?
The result was staggering.
This just about the deepest sounding guitar I've ever had the pleasure of playing. There is nothing lost down there. The lowest lows and the highest highs are co-exist in a realm of sheer tonal joy.
Don't pick it too fast, or you'll hypnotize yourself. Seriously :)
This isn't a guitar, it's a landscape. Visually. Sonically. It's got it all.
Orr photographer, who is not a guitarist, took picture after picture, angle after angle. It was hard to get him to stop.
The walnut is exquisitely figured and the cedar is incredibly tight. The Maple neck compliments every other wood shade perfectly. Wood. Wood. Wood. That's what we acoustic players want to see. Beautiful cuts in perfect combination. Just about my favorite rosette of all time, too.
The bevel is REALLY comfortable and besides that, it plays like a dream.
It is a dream.
But I'm holding it right now...
