From HEDD

The H715 Reference are ADAM Audio’s flagship open-back headphones. They are primarily designed for mixing and mastering applications when flawless audio reproduction is required. In addition, the dedicated Hi-Fi mode lets you enjoy the same uncompromising precision at home when paired with a premium amplifier setup.

The lightweight and ergonomic design of the H715 Reference ensures long, fatigue-free sessions. The titanium-plated 150 Ohm drivers feature dual-sided connectivity and lay flat, allowing the headphones to be delivered in a hardshell case for safe transportation and storage. The package is completed by magnetically attachable soft cloth and faux leather earpads, a 1.3 m coiled studio cable, and the dedicated Hi-Fi cable.

The H715 Reference are strengthened by an included suite of tailor-made software. Built by equalisation experts Sonnox, the Headphone Utility Plug-In and ListenHub application offer system-wide calibration, plus metering, referencing and imaging features.

This overall combination makes the H715 Reference as trustworthy as ADAM Audio’s most impressive full-range systems playing in acoustically treated rooms. The engineering team has achieved balanced tonal character, an exceptional bass response, with ultra-low distortion and plentiful SPL.

Titanium-Plated PEN Drivers

Responsible for the sound reproduction of the H715 Reference, are custom designed Titanium-plated 150 Ohm PEN drivers. Within the assembly are ultra-strong neodymium magnets with meticulously tuned suspension and a patent-pending ventilation system.

The drivers are angled and sit within a permeable, woven steel mesh which contributes to the transparency and openness of the headphones. The position of the driver outlet has been carefully considered and it’s surrounded by a dense acoustic material to dampen unwanted resonance peaks.

Ergonomic Design

A major part of any headphone design is the mechanical engineering, which influences comfort and durability. Here, the H715 Reference excels with a spring steel headband for a secure fit for all head shapes and sizes. The headband padding features a central cutout to reduce pressure on the sensitive crown area, while the ultra-soft memory foam ear pads adapt to the shape of the head around the ears. The headband itself is secured to the earcups with milled aluminium yokes. The earcups can be folded flat, and, with the included hardshell case, you can take your reference headphones wherever you go.

Software Expertise

ADAM Audio has deepened its relationship with software experts Sonnox to expand the Headphone Utility plug-in. It offers precise calibrations for ADAM Audio headphones, including user-adjustable crossfeed, to better translate loudspeaker mixes to headphones.

In addition, ListenHub is included with the H715 Reference. This virtual monitoring hub allows you to line up reference tracks from streaming platforms, match loudness, and check mono, sides and balance. The Headphone Utility Plug-In can run directly within the MacOS ListenHub application for system-wide and source-independent calibration.

Hi-Fi Mode

For anyone who wants to experience music without compromise, the H715 Reference can be connected to a balanced amplifier output via the additional 3 m double-entry cable that features a 4.4 mm 5-pole Pentaconn jack. Hi-Fi Mode is activated by pressing the recessed button inside the left ear-cup with the included metal pin. This splits the common ground between the left and right earcup to allow the double-entry cable to deliver balanced audio via phase inverted signals from a differential amplifier.  With another push of the button, the common ground is restored, and the regular single-entry cable can be used again.

Modular Construction

ADAM Audio approach headphone design with an understanding that some components may need to be replaced due to normal use of the device. Headbands and earpads will undergo a lot of stress during their lifetimes and will become worn. Cables can fray, and components can become damaged due to improper storage and transportation. With dual-sided cable connectivity and replaceable cables, exchangeable earpads and headband padding, and a high-quality carry bag, the H715 Reference was designed with years of use in mind.
