Great playing SG! The 1.695" nut width is really comfortable.
I'm guessing the bigger neck is helping to give this one such a big tone -
Hasn't been played much as the plastic is still on the pickguard !!!
In 1960, Gibson initiated a thorough and major redesign of the iconic Les Paul Standards of the late 1950s. It was a bold move at the height of Gibson’s original Golden Era, and it paid off. The result was the 1961 Gibson SG Les Paul (later renamed the SG Standard), now painstakingly recreated as the SG ’61 Reissue. The debut of the SG announced a new, radical design for Gibson and the world. Short for “solid guitar,” the SG featured a much thinner body, distinctive twin cutaways, pointed horns, and beveled edges. The ’61 Reissue sports the original’s period-correct smaller pickguard, and nickel-plated hardware, along with a pair of Gibson’s ’57 Classic humbuckers, with Alnico II magnets and balanced coils to deliver unmistakable vintage tone. A traditional, 22-fret mahogany neck with Gibson’s classic ’60s slim taper profile and Indian rosewood fingerboard rounds out this faithful recreation of a legendary instrument. Available only in Heritage Cherry.
Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.
