What We Think

Condition: Used, Good. This is a vintage, 60+ year old instrument that has undergone heavy use, and has a large amount of playwear. This instrument comes with a vintage black tolex hard case.

SP Luthier Notes: Our luthier performed an array of work to this instrument. The frets as they were could not be repaired to an acceptable state so they were replaced with spec accurate fretwire and shaped into like new condition. (A) Minor dent(s) present on the guitar also required our luthier to fill, color match, and refinish the area massively improving the cosmetics of the guitar. This instrument as it was had a bridge that was installed with improper positioning, and it was not possible to intonate properly given this issue. Our luthier repositioned the bridge studs of the guitar to necessarily ensure correct intonation, and the stability of this repair has been verified. Our luthier completed a binding repair on the neck binding of this guitar to necessarily ensure structural stability. Lastly, the guitar required a full adjustment to the truss rod, nut, and bridge to be brought to a perfect level of playability. No further work was required.

About Manufacturer

Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.
