SP Luthier Notes: The truss rod and bridge were fully adjusted. All of the frets were polished, recrowned and leveled. Some of the frets were coming out of the fretboard, and our luthier reseated them and glued them into place. No further work was required.
Prepare to be captivated by this extraordinary Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul! This isn't just a guitar; it's a glorious investment for the discerning player, destined to inspire sonic adventures. Bathed in a vibrant, vintage-inspired Cherry Red Murphy Lab Light Aged nitrocellulose lacquer, its lightweight mahogany body and plain maple top sing with a rich, resonant warmth. Feel the power in your hands with the chunky 1950's D-shape neck and its silky-smooth Indian rosewood fingerboard, offering a playing experience that's both substantial and supremely comfortable. Plug in and unleash a torrent of tone from the unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups, delivering an electrifying, soulful voice that's pure rock and roll. Our master luthier meticulously finessed every detail, from polishing and crowning the frets to expertly re-seating any that needed a gentle nudge, ensuring this isn't merely an "as-is" instrument, but a perfectly dialed-in, road-ready companion.
The 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue features all the painstaking historic construction methods of the famous '59 Reissues with a few historically-accurate spec differences that allow it to stand on its own. Like the 1958 originals, it has narrow frets which help more of the fingerboard wood to be heard in the tone profile. It also has a round, chunky neck profile for a full feel and maximum bending leverage. And finally it has a beautiful plain maple top; each is unique and full of character.
Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.
