Condition: Used, Vintage, Good. This instrument was made 90+ years ago and is definitely not in mint condition, and it has prior repairs and wear - nothing less than expected of a piece this age. Our luthier had to perform extensive work on this instrument and the stability of all repairs has been verified.
SP Luthier Notes: A number of frets had become raised above the fingerboard and partially out of their fret slots which necessitated gluing and reseating said frets into the fingerboard. A majority of frets showed evidence of play wear. As such, the frets were leveled, recrowned, and polished back to a near mint state. The neck joint had naturally shifted over time leaving much to be desired of the guitar's action. Our luthier removed the neck then reset the neck joint to perfect factory condition. This guitar had prior repairs to cracks that had opened up, and our luthier stabilized and closed the cracks on the guitar. Our luthier also had to make a new saddle and new bridge pins for the guitar. No further work was required.
Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.
