Over three years of field testing and tweaking on gigs and in the studio, in Andy’s personal gig-rig, have resulted in the ODH. It started out life in an ODS Classic chassis and a mini-112 combo cabinet with a neo speaker to maximize wattage and minimize weight and overall size. The circuit evolved to this final production version which incorporates many innovations in this, the final product. Unlike the many mini-amps out there, this amp uses a true tube preamp for maximum warmth and musicality and response.

Featuring an ODS © style all tube preamp, operating at True High Voltage ® into a fan-cooled Ice power module, the new ODH Hybrid brings high-powered clean and overdrive tones in a ridiculously compact, very portable sized head and at a shockingly affordable price point.

Like our Fuchs ODS-Classic amps, the ODH clean preamp features the expected 3-position brite switch, a 3-position mid-boost switch, and a 3-position EQ switch (two EQ’s and tone bypasss/gain boost), as well as high, mid and low tone controls. The clean preamp drives the overdrive section in true D-Style fashion. The clean channel is warm and bouncy, and excellent for clean jazz or Mayer-style articulate and immaculate clean tones. Whether a humbucker or single coil, the clean channel can be shaped using the highly flexible eq switches and tone controls to match any tonal goal.

The Overdrive channel (not unlike our ODS and ODS-Classic/II amps) has an input gain and output master as well as an overdrive tone control. This ensures perfect tuning of both the clean and overdrive channels. Internal trimmers for OD gain and HFOD (highs into overdrive) are accessible, as on the ODS amps.

A truly unique tube limiter circuit controls the signal into the Ice Power module input. Signal clipping is (intentionally) non-linear and performed by a tube slightly before the ICE power module would clip on its own, so the ODH responds just like a real tube amp. Not only does this bring a tube feel and sag or “holdback” like a tube amp, but prevents potentially damaging speakers, as the Ice module has so much headroom on tap.

The ODH comes with a two-way footswitch for channels and gain boost. A 30 second mute timer assures the tubes are fully warmed-up before the power amp goes live. A three color LED shows mute, operate and changes color depending on the channel selected.

The ODH features our lush and warm Spin digital reverb, interfaced through its own active reverb mixer, to be minimally intrusive on the tone and feel. An internal dwell control is provided.

A subsonic low frequency filter eliminates out-of-band frequencies which would normally waste amplifier power, which assures tons of clean headroom. The amp also features Accent and Depth controls, allowing contouring of the high and low response of the power amp section, to match speakers, cabinets and room and/or studio environments.

The ODH features a front panel fully buffered series effects loop as well as a line out jack, allowing for home recording or feeding a slave amp. A three-position mute switch mutes the amp, the line out or neither. Dual speaker jacks allow for up to two cabinets easily.

Built on the same solid steel chassis platform as the Fuchs FB series bass amps, the amps feature a steel chassis and aluminum front and rear panels, Alpha potentiometers, ceramic tube sockets, high grade circuit boards and Neutrik jacks. In addition to regulated DC high voltages, the preamp features DC tube heaters for lowest noise and reduced tube filament noise pickup. The ICE power amp section is 150 watts into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms, and nearly 500 watts into 2.65 ohms (4 and 8 ohms in parallel) and operates on universal AC voltage, so it’s fully globally compatible. The chassis is fan cooled to insure hours of cool operation under any circumstances. Assembled in USA.
