What We Think

I don't know how Rich does it! You would think that after a revolutionary design like the Angry Sparrow and the double sparrow, known as the Ampeater, that there would be no where else to go in the fuzz realm that hasn't already been done a million times.

BEHOLD! The Cosmic Ray cometh!

Classic fuzz tone is achievable with great note seperation at just about any setting level, and the dynamics and touch-sensitivity that Flickinger is famous for is all there! So where does this cosmic creation take us? To where no guitar has gone before! well, not exactly, but definitely one of the widest ranges and most musical takes I've ever played through in the world o' fuzz.

You know how the fuzz factory is mostly "just crazy"? you want usable tone AND craziness from one fuzz pedal. I mean, who doesn't? haha.. So get that velcro and compressed sound from the Cosmic Ray with added touch-sensitivity or real her in for some smooth vintage fuzz tone.

Rich includes some great settings to try in the instructions with this pedal. I'd be happy to recommend some of my favorites as well. Call or Email me any time and dive into the world of dynamic fuzz from a great Raleigh builder!

Manufacturer's Description from Flickinger

The Cosmic Ray Tone Box is a unique clipping pedal that uses three NOS Tungsram AC125z Germanium transistors for its characteristic tone. The "Anti-Matter" knobs control the bias settings of the transistors to produce sounds that range from vintage style overdrive to broken speaker fuzz tones. The nature of the controls allows for some sounds that are beyond the limits of good taste. I hope you enjoy that aspect!
