I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this Coronado II. Sure, it's a thin-line hollow-body, so it was somewhat familiar territory, but the fact that it was made by Fender threw me for a bit of a loop. With a little research I found out that, in the mid-Sixties, Fender decided to dabble in the growing market for hollow-body guitars and released the Coronado in different variations up until the early Seventies. This baby charmed me from the start, its large, yet comfortable body affording great acoustic resonance and tone surprising for a thin body profile. It features a pair of DeArmond pickups that deliver all of the bright chime and smooth creaminess that you'd expect and a very sensitive tremolo arm that will give you even more expression. I had never seen or heard of the Coronado before, but let me tell you, I'm glad to have made its acquaintance!
