We first got acquainted with Barbera Soloist saddle transducers by way of the brilliant NC luthier, John Buscarino. The Barbera soloist IS the saddle, that's the secret. We had in a Buscarino archtop with one of these babies in it and it sounded good no matter what we plugged it through (tube or solid-state). Moreover, the tone coming out the speaker was distinctly more "acoustic" than we'd ever heard a plugged-in archtop sound, this got us thinking. . .

Eventually, one of our clients (a local musician) came in frustrated with his live archtop tone. He played in a traditional jazz band and couldn't get the pure, woody tone he wanted at standing room values, we pitched in an all-solid, "acoustic" Eastman archtop with a Barbera soloist installed. He was blown away with the results and so were we. We immediately contacted Barbera to get some more soloists. 

For those of us who love that crisp, old-time archtop tone, there is nothing better than this!
