First and foremost, this archtop is a visual stunner. The honeyburst on this baby is warm and stately; it allows the beautiful grain on this carved spruce top to pop out and demand attention.
Unplugged, nail a chord and the thing just rings for days. The maple back and sides add balanced mid range, while offering that pleasant and rich maple trademark brightness. Plugged in, the Kent Armstrong offers a wide-range of sounds with a single tone control: rolled back you’ll get a delightfully mellow straight jazz tone, cranked you’d swear you were playing a vintage ES-335. The nut width is comfy, small enough to nail those tough chords, but big enough to ensure your fingers don’t get twisted along the way.
