What We Think
The DW Edge snare drum has been one of the behind the scenes workhorse drums for studio and live drummers alike. The hybrid shell concept takes tone to a new level with a thicker application of wood and metal giving players the best of both worlds.
Weighing in at 17lbs, this monster of a drum will fill your playing situation with tone and snap. The heavy brass sandwiches 10 plies of maple finished with an ebony oil stain for a full-bodied note like no other. With a born on date of 2008, this drum has the factory installed Dunnett R4 swivel throw-off and the pre-3 position butt plate. The chrome hardware and the polished brass are in good condition and show very little signs of pitting. Of note, upon inspection, we saw two spots with light rust that is noted in the photos. Other than that, this player drum has lots of life left and is ready for its next chapter of the musical journey.

The patented Edge offers a sound that no other snare drum can equal. A mixture of metal alloy with either a 10-ply or solid maple center, it gives drummers plenty of versatility for a multitude of playing situations. Cork it up for R&B and Hip Hop, or tune it low for Rock or studio recordings. The Edge is the best of metal and wood in one drum. Metal Edge rings are available in chrome or gold only, but lugs and other drum hardware can be mixed and matched for a unique, personalized look. The Edge center can also be finished in any Custom Shop finish.
