What We Think
DW carries on the tradition of paying homage to some of the legends of music with the Icon series of snare drums.
The only Icon snare drum for 2017 features a beautifully crafted Terry Bozzio signature snare drum with laser engraved notation of the legenday Frank Zappa "Black Page." The notorious notation is laser-etched into Exotic White Birdseye Maple and the titles, as well as the iconic Zappa mustache, are hand-inlaid with dyed-black Pearwood on this limited edition snare drum. The snare drum features an 11-ply North American Hard Rock Maple shell that is complimented with Black Nickel Hardware and black Remo drumheads.
For collectors, DW also included a signed drumhead by Terry Bozzio, an additional drumhead to play and a 7" Vinyl copy of The Black Page being played by Bozzio. This is the ultimate item for the Frank Zappa fan.
Manufacturer's Description from DW Drums
The "Black Page" was a piece of music that Zappa wrote to challenge Terry Bozzio. He called it the black page, because there were so many notes, the pages looked black. Naturally, we took those notes and laser inlaid them in a snare. These are limited to 250 worldwide and come signed by Terry, with a case, as well as a very cool 7" vinyl pressing of the original recording of Terry playing the Black Page. To top this off, the proceeds of this drum go to St. Judes!!
