Sound Pure's Take

For many years, DW has been on the forefront of drum building utilizing a multitude of techniques and materials to achieve a myriad of sounds for the modern drummer. From the novice to the professional, DW has an impressive portfolio of sounds that can fit any musical playing situation.

Titanium is an alloy that has been used in aerospace for decades for its lightweight strength. It has only been in the last couple of decades where titanium finally made it to the drum industry. The titanium shell gives this drum a nice dry and focused sound without as much metallic ring that can be found in most other metal snare drums. Despite the drier tone, this snare projects with all the volume and fullness expected of a thin metal shell snare drum. The 45° bearing edges combined with the shallow snare beds produce articulation and sensitivity for the most demanding drummers. Whether you are after feathered nuances or brutal backbeats, this drum reciprocates.

The titanium is polished to a brilliant mirror-like luster and complemented with the bold black nickel hardware giving this drum a regal aesthetic that would be well-suited in almost any musical situation. The ten double-sided lugs mingled with the True-Pitch 50 tension rods will give the discerning player complete control of their tuning with ease. Incorporate the 3-position butt plate, and you will increase your snare drum flexibility with the simple flip of a lever.

DW melds boutique and production to create an affordable titanium snare drum option for the masses. For players who are seeking a drier and more focused metal drum, the DW titanium snare drum should be on your radar.

From DW Drums

Titanium is considered by many to be an ultra-high-end snare shell material.  It’s boutique origins and less-metallic sound makes it a preferred drum for many professional studio and touring drummers.  The thin, 1mm shell features integrated, rolled bearing edges and snare beds with a mirror-like polished exterior.  It’s only offered with black nickel hardware, giving it its name.  A DW MAG throw-off system with 3P butt plate, 3.0 steel True Hoops, True Pitch tension rods and DW Heads by Remo USA all come standard.
