DW created the Performance Series so that more drummers can enjoy the DW quality at an affordable price. At the base of it all is a new shell design, known as HVX. The HVX shells blend maple plies without reinforcing rings. Upgraded tension rods let you tune your drums more precisely than ever. DW's suspension mounting system lets your toms resonate freely giving you great sound and isolation. The Performance Series also adopted a slightly smaller turret lug and a handful of different finishes to give you a taste of a customized kit without the custom price. 

Performance Series offers a brand new shell technology devised by John Good and the DW Custom Shell Shop in California. Combining the latest grain orientation technology and hand-selected North American Hard Rock Maple, Performance Series' proprietary HVX shells deliver a low, punchy fundamental, with ample resonance and projection that's perfectly suited for live applications.

DW Performance Series drums come standard with a set of heads made specially for DW by Remo USA. Bass drums feature Coated/Clear batter heads (with inlay ring) and Ebony resonant Logo heads (vented). Snare drums come with our Coated Control Sound batter heads (with tuning sequence numbering) and Clear snare side resonant heads. Toms come standard with Coated/Clear batter heads and Clear resonant tom heads. The Coated/Clear heads incorporate a coated tone ring for just the right amount of muffling with plenty of resonance. Crimped flesh hoops provide maximum vibration and durability.
