Sound Pure's Take

When I was a little kid, my older brother brought home a copy of Tom Petty's "Damn the Torpedoes" record and, after I got over a juvenile laugh about the swear word in the title, we sat down to give it a listen. It was my first memory of being exposed to an artist who would go on to have countless hit singles and a musical career spanning four decades and counting, his songs a welcome staple of classic FM radio and an ever-present soundtrack to my youth and beyond. As I got older and picked up the guitar, I began to notice something about those songs, an integral part of them that was so tasteful and even subtle at times, that I'd missed it for years. That integral part, of course, was Mr. Mike Campbell. He is a phenomenal player who is worthy of praise and respect as much for what he doesn't play as what he does. Sure, he can rip with the best of them ("Running Down a Dream", anyone?), but what has struck me the most over the years is his ability to come up with parts that serve the song perfectly, even if they don't call attention to his decidedly impressive playing. Needless to say, when I picked up this beautiful Duesenberg Signature model, I felt like I was sixteen again, picking out the chords to "American Girl" or trying to get the tremolo bar just right on the melody to "You Got Lucky". This guitar hits all the right notes, from the brilliant blue finish to the Domino P-90 and Grand Humbucker pickups. This baby is the perfect embodiment of one of the most amazing players of our time. Check it out for yourself!

From Duesenberg Guitars

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have just celebrated their Thirtieth Year together, and to commemorate the career of Mike Campbell, we have built a guitar that honors his career. Very few guitar players have created a following and the respect among their fans and peers as much as Mike Campbell. Mike's incomparable style and songwriting over the years has left its mark in Rock & Roll History and Duesenberg has the privilege of being a part of it. The appearance of the Mike Campbell Signature TV Guitar says it all, with its vintage Hot Rod style, along with our traditional Duesenberg tone, this Doozy will be hard to beat... "Buckle Up"
