The Duesenberg Fairytale is a masterfully crafted lap steel that blends striking design with serious sonic versatility. Built from resonant Korina with a maple headstock top, its sleek 25.5" scale and black anodized aluminum fingerboard offer smooth, precise playability and endless sustain. The pairing of a Duesenberg SingleTwin Domino in the neck and GrandVintage humbucker at the bridge delivers everything from silky shimmer to bold, singing leads. Outfitted with the innovative Multibender bridge and Easy Shift Capo, this Fairytale invites creative expression at every turn. Refined, inspiring, and built to last, it’s a distinctive investment for players seeking expressive slide tones with unmistakable style.
The Fairytale Lapsteel is one of the most desired instruments for lapsteel artists around the world.
Its innovation on countless aspects from the integrated capo nut down to the versatile Multibender bridge system leaves this lapsteel without competition.
"The minute I picked up the Duesenberg Lapsteel I was hooked.
This is a lapsteel that is a complete joy to play,
even if you've never picked up a slide before."
- John Mayer
The Multibender is an integrated string bending device that can be configured to do a number of different things.
It is used for bending specific strings up or down a semi- or full tone, all done with the heel of your hand while playing. This comes in handy for changing chords from minor to major or all kinds of other intervals. The Multibender takes up to five levers (additional levers available seperately) which can all be set up to do different things.
The integrated Easy-Shift Capodaster makes key changes on a lapsteel a breeze.
Just loosen the thumbscrew on top of the Capo, place it wherever you need it on the fretboard and tighten the screw again.
The Easy-Shift Capo runs on a rail inside the fretboard so that losing or misplacing it is impossible.
Know your tone.
The Fairytale comes fitted with one of our hum-cancelling SingleTwin Domino P90 in the neck position and our versatile and classically voiced GrandVintage Humbucker in the bridge position.
With the Domino delivering a warm and fat tone and the GrandVintage taking care of the cutting leads you are well set for everything that might come your way.
For easy to do tone swells, we have also fitted the Fairytale with our special short range speed pot that works on a 70° angle.
Nickel Hardware
Most of our hardware is nickel finished.
You will find the geometrical three steps in almost every part on our instruments, from the curves on the headstock to the shape of the output jack.
When compared to regular chrome finishes, nickel has a beautiful warm and elegant sheen and ages naturally over time. It's the way things were done before chrome became the standard. If you don't want the hardware on your instrument to age, we recommend regular cleaning.
Made to hold something that lasts
A good case is one that's more sturdy than what's inside.
Handsome, laid-back and simply a good place for your instrument. Meet the Duesenberg Custom Line Cases. True flightcase quality, classically shaped, beautifully handcrafted and made to endure the most realistic and unrealistic abuses. It's a case you can just throw in the back of a car, train or airplane and won't have to worry about.
This instrument comes including the Duesenberg Custom Line Case as standard.
Duesenberg Guitars exploded on the scene a few years ago and have been turning heads ever since. These days everyone is playing a Duesey, from Mike Campbell to Bob Dylan to Ronnie Wood. The build quality and price-point are hard to argue with. Here at Sound Pure we always have a healthy stock of Duesenbergs and are happy to special order if our inventory does not suit your needs.
In a unique way Dieter Goelsdorf's Duesenberg design consolidates guitar construction, features and sounds which have written music history. The art deco style design of headstock, pickguard and metal components gives Duesenberg its own eye-catching look, while the body design bases on the old traditional Jazz guitars like being built from the 40s in Europe and in the USA. These design elements are combined with the best possible electric guitar construction values of the 50s: Grand Vintage Alnico pickups, classical Fender scale length plus a Gibson-like fingerboard radius. Most of the vintage-style tailpieces, bridges, tremolos, pickups and controls come with greatly improved details. The light weight plus comfortable position of controls of these stage and studio guitars provide a distinctive playing performance and handling for the most demanding player.
