The Craviotto/AK collaboration has created some of the finest snare drums on the planet so it was logical that they paired again to create the Masters Bronze snare drums. This is a very limited run with only 25 drums being made in the 5.25x14 size and we feel fortunate to have access to these incredible instruments.
The bronze series takes on a more minimalistic approach aesthetically compared to past snare drum releases, but it makes up for it in the sonic department. At the heart of the drum is a one-piece 1mm bronze shell that has been carefully crafted to master builder Adrian Kirchler. The attention is in the details. There have been very few drums we have heard that deliver the quality of sound quite like this one. We loved the subtle feather-like nuances of ghost notes all the way to the pummeling backbeat hits with the complete dynamic range in between. Different from the typical AK production, you will get the Craviotto standard tube lugs, flanged hoops, and Trick throw-off.
Dynamically speaking, this drum has an impressive range that far exceeds it shell depth without loss of definition. For drummers who demand the most from their instruments, this drum should be on your radar. And for collectors out there, the low numbered edition is sure to give you a special conversation piece in your collection.
