Sound Pure's Take
This guitar has a full, woody tone with some great punchiness. This is truly a great buy for the price. The spruce top and ebony fretboard combination (the 'ES' in 'GCS-1ES') is absolutely killer for some of the warmer, rounder tones you might expect from a full hollowbody, but with the clarity and focus of a semi-hollow guitar. The smooth ebony fretboard also contributes to a creamy but detailed sound that lends itself very well to chord melody and colorful harmonies. Bill Comins always provides these instruments with the same setup and fretwork that adorns his higher-end archtops, and as a result the GCS-1s share the same exceptional level of playability.
