Sound Pure's Take
Condition: Used, Very Good - Playwear on Top
We may sound like a broken record at this point, but it remains true that Collings Guitars provide the most balanced tonal range of any boutique brand we've had at the shop! The D2H is a golden standard in the Collings lineup and this sunburst finish is a stand-out piece! Quite possibly the best burst finish we've seen!
The first thing you notice when you first strum a chord is this balance and clarity. Every note in the chord rings out nice and evenly. Some dreads have a tendency to be too bassy but this is not the case with the D2H. Bass response is good and provides just the right amount of support in this frequency range. The trebles have good overtones but maintain good fundamentals, so single lines sound thick and punchy. Overall, this guitar is one of the louder flattops on our wall. Fit and finish is impeccable as with every Collings you pick up. If you are looking for a high-end rosewood dread, the D2H should be a at the top of your list.

From Collings Guitars
The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the first to build them, we bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference.
