The Chandler Limited TG 12411 is one of those channel strips that feels like it came from a different era—not because it’s trying to be vintage, but because it approaches tone in a way that modern gear often doesn’t.
Built around the same EMI TG circuitry that helped define the sound of Abbey Road in the late '60s and early '70s, the TG 12411 combines the renowned TG2 preamp with a remarkably musical passive EQ inspired by the TG12410 transfer console.
What immediately stands out is the preamp. It has a depth and authority that feels unmistakably British, but it’s not the thick, woolly character some vintage-inspired gear leans toward. Instead, it delivers a punchy, forward midrange, solid low end, and an open top that manages to stay smooth even when you push it hard. Vocals, drums, guitars, bass—it has a way of making sources sound larger and more confident without feeling exaggerated.
The EQ is where things get especially interesting. It’s not designed for surgical corrections or endless tweaking. Instead, it encourages broad, musical moves that shape the overall feel of a source. The inductor-based design gives the top end a sweetness and openness, while the lows have a weight and roundness that can make tracks feel instantly more substantial. Many engineers compare the EQ section's musicality to classic Pultec-style designs, and it’s easy to hear why.
What we love most about the TG 12411 is how quickly it gets you to a sound. There’s very little second-guessing involved. You make a few moves, and suddenly the source feels finished. It encourages commitment and rewards trusting your ears rather than staring at numbers.
There’s also an unmistakable character to everything that passes through it. Whether you’re tracking vocals, shaping a bass, or running line-level material through the preamp and EQ for color, the TG 12411 adds a sense of depth, texture, and dimension that feels undeniably record-ready.
For engineers looking for a channel strip with genuine EMI pedigree, rich analog character, and some of the most musical EQ curves ever put into a rack unit, the Chandler Limited TG 12411 remains one of the most inspiring front ends available today.
The Chandler Limited Channel is a recreation of several classic circuits and combines a TG2 pre amp section with an equalizer that was redesigned from an equalization circuit used in the TG12410 Transfer or mastering console. The mastering counterpart to the original "Beatles desks". Our version has been remade using original design information and circuit board drawings as provided by Abbey Road to ensure extreme authenticity! We've even remolded the old TG style pointer knobs.
The active portions of the unit use the same discrete amplifiers and transformers as in the TG1 Limiter and TG2 pre amp. The passive equalizer portion of the EQ is an all inductor design and offers sweet high frequencies with large inductor based lows, and a very high "Q" mid cut section. Designed to sound like a fine musical instrument instead of a modern surgical tool, it's sound is very comparable to Pultec and Lang program eqs but made from TG circuits. A simple description would be a TG Pultec with a TG pre amp thrown in...
Re-creating some of the most sought after gear of the 60's and 70's, Chandler Limited has built some of the best gear in the land. Look to them for the "classic rock" and Metal sound used by some of yesterday's as well as today's best acts. Watch closely, because they continue to bring new products to market based on the legendary sounds of the past, and some that have a twist (or upgrade) of their very own. Chandler designs and releases some seriously well-built gear for the most discriminating (and famous), musicians, producers, and engineers.
