Vintage drums are getting harder to come by, but especially when they are paired with an 18" bass drum and the Camco name. This rare Camco Oaklawn drum set is here on consignment and right up there with Bigfoot sightings.
Camco was birthed out of the demise of the George Way Drum company yet modeled after his visionary designs. The ply shells, bearing edges, reinforcing rings, and white painted interiors, are in great condition and have been protected by the Sky Blue Pearl wrap. The previous owners kept the drums in canvas bags(included with purchase) which protected the exterior from extreme fading as well as interior hardware from deteriorating.
The 12" tom has a bit of rust on the interior tom plate, but the rest of the interior hardware is great and shows almost no signs of its age. The hoops of the rack tom, unfortunately, are both cracked. The drum is still tunable in its current state, but there is some binding when trying to achieve proper tension. The original muffler was removed from the drum, but it will ship with the set as well as the original Camco resonant head. The floor tom will also ship with a Camco branded resonant head.
All parts, with the exception of the floor tom legs and bass drum spurs, appear to be original. The floor tom legs are the correct diameter but have the Pearl Air Suspension style feet which are perfect for a player set. The bass drum spurs appear to be a Gibraltar style and are pretty solid. The Rail Consolette is missing tom holder/spade, and the floor tom is missing its original muffler. Most of the parts for the muffler will ship with the set as well as some extra items supplied by the owner.
