Sound Pure's Take

Condition: Used, Very Good

It is our absolute privilege to be the first to present this new iteration of John Buscarino's always-stunning Cabaret.  Leave it to the master to pull off a short scale nylon!  By using high tension strings in conjunction with the 25" scale, John has managed to offer a nylon that plays more effortlessly than any other similar "crossover" models out there while still offering the same complexity, richness, and projection that you can expect from all of his Cabarets.

That comfy scale length isn't the only thing that makes this one special--name another time you've seen a flawlessly quartersawn, perfectly seasoned piece of East Indian on a back like that!  The top, too!  Rotate the guitar ever so lightly looking down at that Carpathian and you might get lost in the downright magical levels of the three-dimensionality in that grain.  But all of this in service of the voice--all of the color and detail you could ever ask for from a classical paired with all of the authority and punch a traditional archtop design has to offer.  Absolutely stunning!

SP Luthier Notes: Fret dress and setup

From Buscarino Guitars

This gem starts out with a gorgeous Premium Grade perfectly quarter sawn piece of East Indian Rosewood that has been seasoned for over 10 years. It is topped with a Master Grade Bear Claw Carpathian Spruce which is tonally superior and eye catching as well. Macassar Ebony was chosen for the Fingerboard which is complimented by the Brazilian Rosewood Headstock Veneer and Bridge. I just love the shape of the oval sound hole on this model and used my custom Snakewood and Mother of Pearl Ribbon Rosette to bring all the details together.

A 25 1/2" Fingerboard Scale is the industry standard scale length for a nylon string and is what I normally do but on this guitar I decided to shorten the scale length 25". It doesn't sound like much but the result is amazing. The shorter scale greatly reduces the string tension, the frets are closer together which makes complicated finger stretches easier to manage and I was able to get the action good and low without fret buzz or loss of volume. The end result is a stunning guitar with a warm and sweet tone that has plenty of Bass response, Trebles that sing, and is incredibly easy and comfortable to play. You can't ask for a whole lot more than that.
