The "pure cardioid" series was started in late 2008 when Brauner released the Valvet X pure cardioid which also completed the charming sounding microphones with a counterpart to the natural sounding Valvet.
Continuing the "pure cardioid" series we distill the essence of the successful tube microphones VM1 and VMX into two new models with a cardioid pattern only. Keeping the well-known high-class look & feel, these two new microphones show their exceptional qualities in solo recordings and achieve an even better self-noise due to their fixed pattern. Their attractive price appeals to home studio enthusiasts all the way to the most demanding audio purists who do not require the variable patterns offered in the classic VM1 or VMX, and simultaneously make no compromises in sound quality.
All "pure cardioid" microphones are shipped in a sturdy aluminium case with power supply, VOVOX TubeLink cable and an elastic suspension.
The philosophy behind Brauner microphones is to look at microphones in a different way... We do not think of microphones as being just some kind of technical gear. We think that building microphones and using them is an art rather than a science. What is at the heart of making music? It is mainly dealing with expressing the emotional content of an artist’s performance and the impression this performance is leaving in the listener. What is at the heart of recording music? Isn't it dealing with creating an image that will contain as much of this impression as possible? We think that only artists can create such a picture and these are the people we build our microphones for.
