Sound Pure's Take

This is a great offering from Brady.  The satin finish accentuates the construction and natural colors of the sheoak and really has a wonderful visual appeal.  Throw off and hardware all function smoothly and comfortably.  As you would expect from a top of the line snare.

This is one of the more sensitive snares with a focused mid to mid-high frequeny range.  Notes are even, and musical, and the versatility of the sounds you can get is just incredible.  The block construction is thicker than an average layered ply snare, and the result is a solid and very beautiful tone.  As an added bonus, this snare provides a wide variety of tuning ranges and performs beautifully in any situation.

From Brady Drums

Nothing compares to Chris Brady's innovative style of block (stave) construction for a remarkably bright shell with a rich, gratifying low end.

The introduction of our now world-famous block-shell snare drums a quarter of a century ago led to our global reputation for crafting outstanding instruments. Achieved primarily through the use of relatively unknown timbers and our lateral view of drum design, these sounds made the industry sit up and take notice. The best session drummers were soon putting Brady block snares on their snare stands and these drums gave their live and studio performances some serious character.

A sheer joy in the studio, block shells differ sonically from ply shells in that a block shell has a very quick decay and a thicker tone; therefore sound engineers no longer need to use noise gates or heavy reverb plates to enhance natural tones. Renowned for their thick, throaty, woody bark, Brady block shell snare drums thrill, seduce and surprise.
