What We Think

Wow, I wish this were my signature model! It already feels so familiar, warm, and broken in. This is the kind of guitar that gives you confidence. It says, "Don't worry, I've got it. Write a song." This top is very responsive and has a way of processing vibrations that suggests intelligence. The mahogany reflects differently than a lot of other cuts I've played. It adds a stoney reverb. It's a really spoecial instrument. The appointments are killer, too. Subtle and just right.

Bourgeois Ray Lamontagne Signature Dreadnought Demo

This Dreadnought crafted by renowned luthier Dana Bourgeois and designed with indie-folk icon Ray Lamontagne in mind is a special instrument. Its Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides give the instrument a very responsive character and a nice, stoney reverb. The gorgeous appointments are perfectly designed to give the the dreadnought a fantastic look to go with its superior sound. A few minutes with this guitar will have you writing your own tunes and falling in love with this instrument, just like we have. Thanks to Robinson Earle for his contribution to this video. Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

Ray takes great pride and care in his guitars, and so it is a pleasure to introduce the Ray LaMontagne Signature Series Bourgeois Guitar. Developed with Dana Bourgeois during Ray's 2011 tour supporting God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise, the series, which is limited to 33 guitars in honor of Ray's 33rd year, focuses on the balance, punch, and beauty Ray looks for in his own performances. You can read the story of the guitar here, including a write-up from Vintage Guitar Magazine.

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
