What We Think

This hand-made Bourgeois Custom OM is a used guitar in mint condition. It features a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. Mahogany backed OMs are a pleasure to record. The lyrical mid-range of this Custom OM produces subtle overtones, and the bass and treble sit comfortably - providing an inspiring acoustic landscape. The response from picking is percussive and punchy without getting harsh, while finger-style projects evenly and compliments a lot of vocal styles. The fretboard has a truly amazing, broken-in feel that you can only get with a guitar that's been played a lot. Don't let that discourage you from looking in to this fine instrument. The condition of the guitar is so good, that it would take a keen eye to find any sign of use. The more you play a fine boutique instrument and the longer you have it, the better it will sound. Bourgeois acoustic guitars are some of the most sought after acoustics on the market.

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

Mahogany has a quick velocity of sound, relatively lightness of weight, and noticeable midrange overtone attenuation. As a result, mahogany guitars have their own sound. Warm, dry, woody, not particularly complex, but direct, lively, and famously easy to record.

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.
Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
