The Bock Audio 195 is one of those microphones that quietly covers a ton of ground—and does it with a sense of weight and authority that’s hard to ignore.
At its core, it’s a FET condenser, but it doesn’t fall into the overly clean or sterile category. There’s a density to the sound here that feels more substantial than a lot of modern FET mics, with a low end that’s full and extended, and a top end that stays smooth without getting brittle. It captures detail, but it never feels thin.
What really makes the 195 stand out is how adaptable it is. The FAT switch is more than a gimmick—it genuinely changes how the mic responds, adding a low-end richness that can make sources feel bigger and more grounded. On the right source, it’s the difference between something sounding good and sounding finished.

The Bock Audio 195 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed to deliver high-end studio performance with exceptional versatility.
Built around a transformer-coupled Class A FET circuit and a K67-style capsule, the 195 offers a detailed, full-range sound with impressive headroom and transient response. Its oversized output transformer plays a big role in its character, providing extended low-frequency depth and a sense of weight that sets it apart from many modern FET microphones.
Designed as a true “do-it-all” studio mic, the 195 features a fixed cardioid pattern for focused capture, along with practical onboard controls including a pad, low-cut filter, and the signature FAT/NORM switch. The FAT mode introduces a broad low-end boost, making it especially effective on sources like kick drum, bass, and guitar cabinets, while the low-cut helps maintain clarity on vocals and acoustic instruments.
Sonically, the 195 strikes a balance between clarity and character—delivering a dense, dimensional sound with smooth highs and solid, controlled lows. It’s equally at home on vocals, acoustic instruments, and high-SPL sources, making it a reliable centerpiece in both project and professional studios.

Inductor based old school power supplies offer dynamic range for our discrete audio amplifier and longevity for our tubes that is only found in vintage models. Bock manufacturing employs all hand construction techniques with mics all built 5 or 10 at a time using techniques that are impossible to execute in high quantity. Bock mics are easy to repair and service. This is why higher volume production microphones that are designed to be manufactured but not repaired cannot compare to Bock hand built mics. We are very proud of our business model in a world of “more is better” and “one size fits all” mass production.
