From Audient

Expand your system's recording capability with the Audient EVO SP8, a slim tabletop device featuring eight microphone preamps and onboard high-resolution AD/DA converters—a perfect addition to any home/project studio, live sound mixing console, or mobile recording rig that has available ADAT digital inputs.

All eight XLR-1/4" combo inputs can accept mic- or line-level signal, and the front-panel input jacks can also accommodate Hi-Z instrument outputs, letting you plug a guitar or a bass directly into the EVO SP8. Pads on every channel allow you to capture the sound of high-level sound sources, such as drums and cranked guitar amps, and 48V phantom power can be individually instantiated to run condenser microphones and active DI boxes.

These features, combined with the wordclock sync input and color LCD with metering, render the unit quite suitable for use in the studio. But that's only one of its intended uses: the SP8 also operates well in live sound environments, providing eight additional preamps for the stage, all feeding their respective line outputs, so they can feed a multitude of mixers, consoles, and PAs. You can even route the line outputs to a console while simultaneously recording digitally via the ADAT outputs.

Eight EVO Mic Preamps

Fire your studio into the 21st century with EVO preamp technology, supply 58 dB of gain range. Combining all the sonic advantages of a studio-grade, analog microphone preamp with digitally controlled tactile precision, the EVO Preamp gives you the ability to set your gain with pin-point accuracy, right down to the decibel.

Onboard High-Resolution AD/DA Converters

The EVO SP8’s high-performance AD/DA converters use 32-bit technology to make sure you hear your audio accurately at all times, whether you’re recording music or sending audio to your favorite outboard gear and back when mixing. Better converters mean better audio—helping you make creative decisions confidently, identify issues, and improve your overall recording and mixing game.

Smartgain: Your Studio Assistant

Make recording drums and larger sessions easy with Smartgain. Automatically set the gain for all eight channels at once with a simple touch of a button. Powered by a lightning quick Smartgain algorithm, Smartgain uses advanced peak analysis to automatically analyze, adjust, and set your gain to the perfect levels—all in less than 20 seconds, so you can focus on the creative stuff.

Unleash Smartgain’s capabilities by pairing two EVO SP8s with an EVO 16 audio interface and get 24 channels of Smartgain enabled mic preamps. Yes, with an EVO Expanded system that’s 24 channels at once.

Motion UI

Navigate SP8’s hardware features with blazing speed courtesy of the all new Motion User Interface. A stunning high-resolution, full-color screen intelligently displays information as you need it, transforming EVO SP8 into a fully immersive, easy-to-use smart preamp.

Every adjustment, every detail, every button press is beautifully displayed on a TFT backlit LCD screen, giving you real-time visual feedback of your audio and letting you make changes on the fly and take complete control of the SP8 without ever having to look at a computer.

IPS technology ensures the information on the screen is visible at any viewing angle, making it well suited for a wide variety of setups.

Pressing a channel button momentarily displays the channel name, the levels, and the functions activated for that specific channel. All the pertinent information is right in one place.

Keep an eye on your levels by quickly cycling through your input levels with EVO SP8's crystal-clear, full-color metering.

Designed to keep your session in motion, One-Knob-Control lets you glide through the hardware features from a single centralized point.

Versatile Inputs and Outputs

With high-headroom inputs and a pad (-10 dB) on every channel, the EVO SP8 is ideal for tracking drums as well as guitars, keyboards, vocals, and more.

To build a monster guitar sound you need the right foundation. The harmonically rich JFET instrument input circuit is designed to replicate the input stage of a classic valve amplifier, providing an ideal sonic foundation before you hit your guitar sims.

Pair channels together and make adjustments simultaneously.

Eight balanced line-level outputs, sourced directly from the analog inputs or from the digital ADAT inputs, allow the EVO SP8 to be used in a live situation whilst capturing the recording via the digital ADAT output.

The rear panel offers a BNC jack for word clock input, enabling proper synchronization with other digital equipment, such as a mixing console or an audio interface.

Stack It or Rack It

Designed to slot straight into your studio, the EVO SP8 defies the normal with its deceptively small form factor. Although jam-packed full of features, at just over 14" wide with non-slip rubber feet, the SP8 works perfectly whether on your desktop, in a portable rig or as a permanent fixture in your studio.

SP8 has been meticulously designed to look amazing on both your desktop and in your rack. Super bright backlit LED lighting not only looks stunning, but ensures visibility in the darkest of studios, whilst a solid steel chassis ensures the EVO SP8 is up to the challenges of daily use in the studio and on the road.

Rack ears are available separately.
