Draped in a high-gloss Ginger Burst with natural scraped binding and a Satin Black back, this Tom Anderson Drop Top Shorty Hollow pairs a quilted maple top over a chambered limba body for exceptional acoustic resonance and light weight. Built on a comfortable 24 3/4-inch short scale, its maple neck features an Even-Taper back shape, a satin natural finish, a matching headstock, and a rosewood fingerboard fitted with heavy frets over a 1 5/8-inch nut. A chrome Vintage Tremolo bridge holds rock-solid tuning, while an HSS pickup set—comprising SC1 single-coils in the neck and middle positions and an HC2 humbucker at the bridge—delivers versatile tone through a custom 5-way switching system with coil-splitting options.
From Tom Anderson Guitarworks
Before the introduction of the magnificent Drop Top in 1990, the number of "S" style guitars that had a maple top that was “dropped” to create a comfortable forearm contour were exactly zero.
As a result of this design, we've chosen a body top thickness of 3/16 of an inch, which actually enhances and enrichens the sonic character of the instrument. The result is a guitar that not only plays effortlessly, is extremely comfortable, and sounds amazing but is so darn good looking that if you don't dress well it just may upstage you.
