Sound Pure's Take
Condition: Used, Great
I can't recall having this much fun with a guitar! Then again, I knew that I would the moment I laid eyes on it. Beautifully carved spruce and maple, unusually compact dimensions, the Charlie Christian pickup...that should be enough to set off any player's six-string-sense! Plug the Archie in and you'll be delighted to find that the Lollar is capable of voices ranging from dark and smokey to taut and slinky to that immediately recognizable, bright clarity synonymous with Charlie Christian's own playing. The small-ish stature of the Archie is certainly in support of the player's comfort and mobility, but also works wonderfully with the Charlie Christian and highly sensitive tonewood combination to focus and compress output. Don't be afraid to crank 'er up! That fast neck and slightly shorter-than-most scale length encourages you to reach over the moon and beyond. Whether you're swinging it to pieces with a group or taking a solo flight, you and your playing are sure to be going places with the Archie in hand!
From Other (Miscellanous Used/Vintage/Consign)
The original version of the Electric Archie is a result of Bill Frisell’s interest in a guitar that would work as an all around traveling and recording guitar. Based on the standard Little Archie, which Bill also helped design, this takes a big step towards being an electric guitar while maintaining certain acoustic aspects. It has a carved top and back like a traditional archtop, but the top has been left full thickness in the center to provide a solid platform for the pickups.
