At age eleven, Richard Smith was invited on stage by Chet Atkins at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London — and he’s been astonishing audiences ever since. Winner of the 2001 National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship (Walnut Valley Festival, Winfield, KS), a National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame inductee, and a two-time Thumbpicker of the Year, his repertoire runs from Chet Atkins and Merle Travis to ragtime, jazz, classical, and The Beatles. A 25-year Nashville veteran, he founded the Hot Club of Nashville and earned a standing ovation from Tommy Emmanuel at the 2018 Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention.
