What We Think

Everything appears to be original hardware, heads, snare wires and wrapping. Sonically this drum is incredible. Pronounced and powerful after many years being gently used. Cosmetically there are some cracks in the outer wrapping and the wrapping is lifting at the seam of the wrapping but these do not impact the sound! The hardware is in good shape with some light pitting and light surface scratches on the lugs and hoops. The hoops are the originals and create a commanding rimshot! This Gretsch includes a snap-in drum key and other than that and the badge vent there are no extra holes. While the sound is complete the looks could use some attention from a Gretsch lover who might want to do a little refurbishing work. At the end of the day, this drum will put a modern snare on its heels and for half the price!

About Manufacturer

For 135 years, the Gretsch Drum Company has produced classic American instruments that drummers the world over covet. The signature “great Gretsch sound” has been utilized by numerous classic and modern drummers alike; Max Roach, Tony Williams, Cindy Blackman, Taylor Hawkins, and Vinnie Colaiuta are just a few examples of master drummers that have sat behind Gretsch kits. Currently, Gretsch’s three lines of professional-grade drums (the Brooklyn, Broadkaster, and USA Custom) are built by a small team of dedicated craftsmen in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Gretsch also offers a number of affordable import lines that allow beginner and intermediate drummers to be a part of drum history and play behind a Gretsch set.
